Ravens' quarterback Steve McNair, a two-year veteran of the team, will officially announce his retirement at a press conference at 1:00 today, at the team's offices. He informed the team of his decision at their first organized meeting this Thursday morning. McNair, the 2003 NFL co-MVP, was widely considered the starting quarterback for the team going into the 2008 season. He started all sixteen regular-season games in his Ravens 2006 debut, but struggled to stay on the field last season, and was relegated to the bench in favor of backups Kyle Boller and Troy Smith. Also present at the press conference will be head coach John Harbaugh, and former Tennessee Titans teammates Derrick Mason and Samari Rolle, according to the team's website. |
